Summary: I would strongly caution homeowners seeking reliable, quality lawn care. This company appears focused on short-term scheduling over long-term lawn health, which can lead to damaged property and wasted money. Key Reasons to Be Wary: 1. Risk of Lawn Damage: The company’s operating procedures allow—and managers will pressure crews—to service lawns in conditions that guarantee damage. This includes driving heavy equipment on frost-covered grass (which shatters the blades, causing dead tracks) and applying fertilizer to lawns buried in leaves (which is ineffective and promotes disease). Their internal standard deems this “acceptable.” 2. Inconsistent Standards, Especially After Acquisition: If you were a customer of a recently absorbed company, beware. You are likely on an outdated program, receiving a lower standard of care (like basic weed control being optional) compared to “legacy” customers, despite paying for the same brand name. You are a second-tier customer. 3. Reactive, Not Proactive, Care: Their service model is based on calendar dates and completing routes, not on actual lawn condition or soil science. Don’t expect nuanced, preventative care tailored to Virginia’s climate. 4. Poor Communication & Accountability: When issues inevitably arise from the above practices, accountability is low. Field technicians who try to follow best practices are overruled, leaving customers to deal with the consequences of poor decisions made by remote managers. Alternative Recommendation: Interview any lawn care provider thoroughly.Ask specifically: “What is your policy on servicing lawns with frost or excessive leaf cover?” A quality company will have a clear “do not service” policy. Ask: “Is your pricing and service plan current, or are some customers on decades-old programs?” Choose a company whose answers demonstrate consistent, science-based standards for every client. ---Summary: I would strongly caution homeowners seeking reliable, quality lawn care. I am a few months into my second year with Pro-Mow mowing service. My property’s appearance stays at a highly maintained level, and they surprise me by staying on schedule in all but the most aggressive rainstorms. It is easy for me to recommend this company. Very happy with their service.

So far, so good. The prior owner recommended this service and because of how nice the lawn looked, we decided to continue ourselves. They made quick work of the lawn and didn’t leave any major traces of clippings. Definitely seems to be worth the price for the maintenance plan and weekly mowings.

I had the pleasure to hire Pro Mow to take care of my lawn for the past 2.5 years. Their customer services is friendly and they always get back to me. The team that service our lawn is punctual and attentive and very polite. I had our estimate done by Kevin and he is very professional and arrives on time. He did multiple big jobs for our lawn, trees, plants, mulching, seeding....etc and made our lawn look great. I highly recommend them specially for big lots.

These people don't care about the work they do, they do awful sloppy work. The salesman Kevin Ball told me everything I wanted to hear but did not deliver in the least. I walked the property with him and told him about the stubborn grasses like speedwell, Japanese stiltgrass, callinga etc. Told him we wanted these addressed he said ok. We hired them back in March to do their deluxe lawn treatments, mow, trim and blow debris. They lasted until June. There was not much communication that went to the crews though we communicated with them regularly. They started out by doing the worst mowing job we've ever seen. The lawn was less than 2" tall, it was very uneven with shorter areas than 2" we asked for 3 1/2" -4". The trimming was perfunctory at best and truly awful. Hit or miss. Kevin came out to talk about the stubborn grasses and it was clear there was no plan at all to address them. "It was a learning curve" according to him. What??? They have no idea how to identify problem grasses and moreover he lied about taking care of them? They call themselves professionals? What we saw was very sloppy work, racing through our property like crazy people and causing damage to our fence and trees. After numerous calls, to correct this or that, nothing happened. Finally, in their haste they took out a huge root chunk from a lovely Sweet Bay Magnolia because their professional people couldn't take the time to just trim and tried to squeeze the huge lawn mower into a tight space (see photo). When the manager (Bryan ) came out to see it, he had the nerve to tell me they would not come back to our property. Reason, oh yes, we have trees and it poses challenges to mow and trim. We have nothing more than any ordinary yard in this area, a small lawn and a few trees. In other words, they can't deliver what they told us they would, and since we would not settle with awful novice work, it costs them money to do the job right so they dumped us! They race to mow 100 lawns per week! Their numbers not mine. Attention to detail, you got to be kidding. And I'm sure with the fast sloppy job they did mowing, they brought all kinds of weeds from other yards on their mowers to our lawn. The two stars are for Karen in the office who did try to help with their antiquated accounting system that was impossible to log into, and made it look like we were charged for services we have no idea about.
